Silverdale Inn and Lodge offers affordable hotel accommodation in Haverfordwest. There are 21 en-suite rooms, all of which feature satellite television. The restaurant serves full three-course meals and specialises in home-cooked food made using local ingredients. Snacks are also served at the bar. This establishment is reasonably well-located and is close to Johnston Railway Station – Milford Haven is also just a short distance away. Reviews have however been mixed – while some praised the food, others were left disappointed by their room’s basic decor and furnishings.
Situated in Treffgarne in rural Pembrokeshire, the Wolfscastle Country Hotel and Restaurant is primarily geared towards families. The patio and garden area offer a relaxing secure environment for children while the rooms include free Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions and 24-hour room service. But it’s the restaurant that really takes this hotel to another level – it regularly achieves AA Rosettes for its a la carte meals and the traditional pub fare served at the bar is also very well received. Its location is also pretty good with the Pembrokeshire Costal Path close-by. Excellent reviews have been left by previous guests with high praise for the hotel’s cleanliness, food and convivial atmosphere.
The Hotel Mariners is a family-run hotel, located in the centre of Haverfordwest. It’s a rather old hotel, dating back to Georgian times and is full of character. There are 27 en-suite rooms, all with colour televisions and wireless internet – room service is also provided. The Mariners Restaurant is of high quality and proves popular with guests and locals alike. The hotel is close to local travel links such as Haverfordwest Railway Station and the holiday towns of St Davids and Pembroke are a short drive away. There are plenty of positive reviews for this establishment with compliments regarding the food and accommodating staff. However, a few reviewers with young children complained that the lack of an elevator made things a bit tricky.
Slebech Park Hotel offers up-market, luxury hotel accommodation and is just outside Haverfordwest. It’s situated in an idyllic, sprawling countryside estate of around 600 acres that offers a picturesque river-side and woodland landscape for guests to explore. The hotel, which was an 18th century coach house, features imaginatively decorated, themed rooms, all of which come equipped with the usual mod-cons. In addition, Slebech Estate Restaurant which adjoins the hotel has a growing reputation in these parts for its high culinary standards. Travel links such as the A40 are within a short distance as are must-see attractions such as St David’s Cathedral. Customer reviews have been resoundingly positive, with the food and location proving very popular with guests
This is a 12th century castle which has been converted into a luxury hotel. There are six en-suite rooms in all, which have been tastefully refurbished to include many of the castle’s original features. Rooms feature TVs and DVD players, as well as iPad docks and the usual extras such as tea and coffee-making facilities. The hotel is run by a house manager who tends to the guest’s needs although it’s worth noting that Roch Castle is not a full-service establishment – so evening dinner menus are not provided. Nevertheless, Roch Castle is well-located and is around seven miles from Haverfordwest and nine miles from St Davids. It’s also received very positive reviews.
